What I Go To School For- Busted Class Lip-Sync Exercise

What I Go To School For- Busted Lip-Sync Exercise.

The good things about this video are that it was easy to edit the different sequences of the video to the audio track and also the filming of the video on the day because we had done a rehearsal the lesson before so we would know what to do on the day of filming.

The editing went quite good as well because it was easy to use the editing software that was available to me. This shows that I can edit a video from lots of different clips for the sequences that have a continuity within it.

The video is very similar to the original music video, apart from a couple of the sequences where it is the band members singing outside because they weren't in-time with the actual music video in my version due to the speed of the shots.

The shots in the lip-sync video are as exact as possible to the shots in the Busted video. The only shots I haven't put in are a couple of the band members because of how fast the video is to put them in.

'What I Go To School For'- Busted Music Video Analysis

'What I Go To School For'- Busted Music Video Analysis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzh8G4HdWVU

Look at the first minute of the video. Note down how long each shot lasts for - and what happens in each shot. Use terms link connotations to analyse what you see.

The main theme of the music video is the sexual attraction of the teacher to the members of the band. The shots of the teacher and the things that she does in the music video in this section of the music video last up to a minute. The contrast to this in this section of the music video is the shots that use the members of the band, who are Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and also James Bourne.

Examples of this include:

0:04: Eyes of the teacher.
0:11-0:14: Charlie Simpson performing the part of the song which he sings.
0:46-0:51: Band performs in the schoolyard.

What types of shots and camera angles are used? For instance, are there a lot of close-up shots or mid-shots? Are there any high or low angles?

There is a mixture of camera angles and shots in the music video. There is a lot of close-up shots of the teacher and also of the members of the band. This shows the importance of the members of the band because it is their music video and also of the teacher because she is the main subject of the video. The mid-shots in the music video are of the members of the band when they perform in the schoolyard and also of the other pupils in the class.

Is the video performance-based or does it have a narrative structure? Or is it a mixture of both?

The music video is a mixture of performance-based and narrative-based music videos. This is evident of the use of a story about the members of the band being attracted to one of their teachers at school for the narrative-based part of the music video, it is also evident that it is a performance-based music video because of the members of the band singing the song during the class scenes as well as performing the song with the instruments in the schoolyard.

Making a Digipak Exercise

Making a Digipak.

Digipak Front/Back Cover Spread.

This is the front/back cover spread for my digipak. This looks typical to the conventions of the Pop Music genre because it has a clear image of the artist as well as selling the artist to the public and to other corporations to use as a step for the marketing strategies. It also  shows the conventions of using other music genres as bonus tracks to try and attract the attention of people who listen to different genres of music.

Digipak Inside Cover Spread.

This is the inner cover for the digipak. This shows the conventions of the Pop Music genre through the use of selling the artist through sex appeal through the use of fashion as well as showing a clear image of the artist.

Digipak CD.

This is the CD for the digipak collection. This shows the Pop Music conventions by being a simple design as well as being a bright colour to attract the attention of the audience.

Digipak DVD.

This is the DVD for my digipak collection. This has the conventions of the Pop Music culture in the same sense as the CD for the digipak.
